Don’t Let Congress Block Federal Trials of Guantanamo Detainees
The House voted on a provision that would block all transfers of Guantanamo detainees to the United States—including for trial.
And yet, federal courts have been MUCH more effective at trying terrorist suspects than the military commissions. Federal courts have convicted over 400 terrorists since 9/11. Military commissions: 5.
The Senate will be voting on this legislation any day. If passed, it would mean that even the OPTION of trying GTMO detainees in federal courts is off the table.
Write and call your senators today and urge them to vote against this misguided provision.
