Call Sen. Feinstein and Urge Her to Release the Torture Report
With your help, the pressure to declassify the Senate intelligence committee’s torture report is at an all time high. The committee will vote as soon as next week to declassify the torture report.
Help us keep the momentum going by calling Senator Dianne Feinstein, chair of the committee, to let her know that you support the declassification of the torture report.
Here are some talking points to guide you.
- We know that the SSCI has completed a five-year inquiry into the CIA’s post-9/11 detention and interrogation program, resulting in a 6,000-plus-page report that was approved by the committee in late 2012. We urge you to take all necessary steps to make the report public, with as few redactions as possible.
- Americans deserve the truth on torture. We are entitled to a thorough accounting of the facts, detailing how and why so-called "enhanced interrogation techniques" came to be used--and what the consequences of their use were.
- Declassifying the torture report will allow us to create informed decisions on national security issues, understand the consequences of the CIA’s torture program, and prevent our nation from returning to these ineffective and un-American practices.
