Ask Ugandan Police to Investigate and Report on Targeted Burglaries
The police in Kampala refused to go to the crime scene after the office of Freedom and Roam Uganda (FARUG), a lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex human rights organization, was burglarized. The organization’s lawyers fought this injustice, finally getting the police to open an investigation, visit the crime scene, and take fingerprints.
We still don’t know if the robbery and another attempted break in were meant to silence the work of these organizations in their fight for the rights of LGBTI Ugandans. These incidents are examples of the struggle faced by gay Ugandans.
Urge Ugandan police chief to oversee and report on the investigation into the burglary at the office of Freedom and Roam in Uganda.
