Urge the Senate to Eliminate the Asylum Filing Deadline

Women fleeing persecution have been disproportionately affected by the asylum filing deadline.

This deadline, which mandates that applicants file for asylum within one year of arrival, routinely bars countless refugees fleeing real religious, political or other persecution from receiving asylum in the United States. Many of them are women.

Over the past few months, we’ve been working hard to make sure that the immigration bill includes better protection for refugees. Now that the immigration bill is on the Senate floor for debate, urge your Senators to protect women fleeing from persecution by eliminating the asylum filing deadline.
